The Phoenix was constructed by Zefram Cochrane and became Earth's first warp capable vessel in 2063. The Phoenix was carried into orbit aboard a Titan missile, formerly used to carry nuclear missiles during Earths third world war. The Phoenix is responsible for Earth's first contact with the Vulcans and the eventual founding of the Federation.
