The Valiant was the first Earth vessel to leave the galaxy in the year 2065. Since this is only two years after Earth's first warp flight, it is theorized that the Valiant could have stumbled into a wormhole to travel this distance. Upon reaching the energy barrier at the edge of the galaxy, several crew members began to exhibit extraordinary mental powers. The captain of the Valiant ordered the destruction of the ship to contain these crew members. The U.S.S. Enterprise found the emergency beacon from the Valiant almost 200 years later.
