The Enterprise type was an early warp vessel built approximately 30 years after Earth's first warp flight. The Enterprise type bears a strong resemblance to a Vulcan starship from the 22nd century; leading to the conclusion that the Vulcans may have given a surplus ship to Earth to base their design off of, as the Enterprise type doesn't fit into the Earth Starfleet design lineage.
